These are the simple rules for using CritterPal. By downloading or using it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
A free app, as it is
CritterPal is free to download and use. It comes "as is": it may have bugs, it may change, and chat or games may be down from time to time. We can change or stop any part of it.
Who can use it
You must be 13 or older. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read these terms and agree to them for you, and must give permission before you use chat. Chat sends what you write, and any screenshot you attach, to an outside company. See the Privacy Policy.
Accounts
You don't need an account to use the free app. If you make one, give your real birth month and year and an email you can open. Keep your password to yourself. One account is for one person. We may close an account that breaks these terms.
Using it fairly
- Don't use CritterPal to cheat on tests or exams. It is for homework help and practice. Follow your school's rules about AI help.
- Don't use chat for anything illegal, harmful or unkind, and don't try to make it say hurtful things.
- Don't attach a screenshot that shows other people's private information, or anything you aren't allowed to share.
- Don't try to break the app or the server, get around the daily limits, or send automated requests.
AI answers can be wrong
Chat answers are written by an AI. They can be wrong, out of date or missing something, even when they sound sure. Check anything that matters, like homework answers, health, money or safety, with a teacher, a parent or a trusted source. You are responsible for what you do with an answer.
Chat limits
Chat has daily limits so it stays free and fair for everyone. The free limit is 3 chat answers a day. There are also limits on how many requests can come from one network, so a school or office that shares one connection may share a limit. The server counts days in UTC, so the daily reset on the server can happen at a different time than midnight on your Mac. There is also a total daily limit for everyone together. If it is reached, chat rests until the next day. Everything that runs on your Mac keeps working. We can change these limits at any time.
No warranty, and limits on responsibility
We try to make CritterPal good, but we don't promise it will work without errors, always be available, or suit what you need. To the fullest extent the law allows, CritterPal is provided without any warranty, and we are not responsible for any loss or damage from using it, including wrong AI answers, lost coins or settings, or chat being unavailable. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be limited.
Paid plans
CritterPal has two paid plans, bought inside the app:
- Premium, $7.99 a month.
- Premium Lite, $1.99 a month.
What each plan includes is on the Pricing page.
- It renews every month and you are charged each month until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars, and tax may be added where the law requires.
- Cancel any time from Settings, Premium, in the app, or from your account. You keep the plan until the end of the month you paid for, and you aren't charged again.
- Price changes: we will email you at least 7 days before a new price starts, with how to cancel.
- Refunds: if you were charged by mistake, email us within 14 days and we will look at it. Rights you have by law still apply.
- Under 18: a parent or guardian must agree to the plan and pay for it.
- If a plan ends, coins, free critters and items you bought stay yours. Premium-only things lock again.
Homework and school rules
CritterPal explains how to solve problems so you can learn to do them yourself. It is for homework and practice, not tests. Your school's rules about AI come first, and you are responsible for following them.
It's an AI, not a person
CritterPal's chat is written by an AI made by another company. It isn't a doctor, a counselor or a replacement for a trusted adult. If you are worried, upset or unsafe, talk to a parent, a teacher or someone you trust. In the US you can call or text 988 at any time. The AI service may change or stop, and some answers may be unavailable.

How CritterPal handles your data is explained in the Privacy Policy. Please read it too.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. If you keep using CritterPal after a change, that means you accept the new terms. If a change is a big one, we will say so on the website.
